Be The Change

Open your eyes up people, and take a good look around,
Catch the tears fillin' up all those cracks in the ground.
Turn off you televisions; leave your picture perfect neighborhoods
A lot of folks out there ain't doing so good,
To many of us left out in the cold
No invitations given, no welcome mats unrolled,
But you can, be the change you wanna see.
Be the hope to those whose lives are far from easy.
Reach out and lend a hand, share everything you can,
And be the change, be the change.
Carry the world on your shoulders, for a little while,
Put on someone else shoes, and walk around.
So many cups a runneth over, while so many goin dry
The grass ain't always green on the other side.
There's still a lot of work to be done,
A lot of wrongs to right, a lot of battles to be won.
You can be the change you wanna see,
Be the hope to those who lives are far from easy.
Reach out and lend a hand, share everything you can,
And be the change, be the change.
Reach out and lend a hand, share everything you can
And be the change, be the change.

Help to spread some holiday cheer!

The holidays can be a very trying time for those fighting an illness.
Please, help us brighten the holidays of some local cancer patients by donating a scarf or two! Silk scarves are the most sought after, but any bandana or head scarf will work.
I have personally been incredibly blessed recently and I am more motivted than ever to help others. Please, if there is any way you can help by monetary donation or by mailing in scarves, you will be making a great difference!
Happy holidays everyone!

It's that time again!

Come September and October, I've found that folks are incredibly generous when it comes to helping out cancer patients.
As most of us know- October is cancer awareness month.
This means I need your help! Scarves, scarves and more scarves!
I would like to put together at least 25 scarf drives- both locally and out of the area. If you or anyone you know can help in putting together a scarf drive, it would be fabulous. By the last week of October, I am aiming to deliver at least 500 scarves! So please if you can- put a drive together. Feel free to email me with any questions!

Thanks everyone.

It has been a while!

First of all I want to apologize to those of you who followed the blog or recently sent emails. I have been incredibly busy and I am so sorry for not responding to you or getting your scarves out to you right away.
As the summer approaches, I am going to initiate a new effort to collect scarves, so please be thinking about putting together a scarf drive. Cotton scarves are GREAT for the summer time- but you know what's even better? You can get them at your local retailer (Target or Wal-mart) for under $2 a piece!
I am hoping to work with an out of state hospital soon and would love to get some more donations. If you have any questions, please email me!
Come June, I will have The Jessica Project in full force, so be ready. :)

Thanks!

Silk! Silk! Silk! (Or at least a silk imposter!)

Hi everyone!

I am currently in need of SILK or silk-type scarves!
I have received so many wonderful cotton scarves, which I am very, very thankful for. But what I really need now are silk ones!
I like to give each recipient a silk scarf and a cotton one. I'm running out of the silk ones. Help!? Please?
If you're interested in donating, I will of course take any donation. But silk is what I'm currently looking for!
Please remember, I need donations that will fit a cancer patients head. It needs to be large enough to comfortably fit around a head. Like this:

Thanks so much!

I am looking for centers who could benefit from scarves!

Hello everyone!

I hope you all are doing fantastic. :)
I am currently looking for centers/Dr's offices who could benefit from scarf donations.
I would like to partner with a local oncologists office to give the scarves to their new patients. If anyone knows of a location or a contact that I could call, please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks,

Brittney

THANK YOU to Laurie Metzger and the wonderful folks at Stellar!

I picked up nearly 60 scarves from their office this morning. The boxes Laurie had put together to collect the scarves were amazing in and of themselves! Thank you so much for your help with the October scarf drive! You all are wonderful!

October has been an amazing month!

October has been awesome for us! So many people have reached out and donated scarves.
So... I will be making trips to local hospitals and hospices this week. I am really looking forward to handing them all the wonderful scarf donations!
Since I've received so many, I would also like to ask that if you are reading this and know someone who could benefit from some new, beautiful scarves due to hair loss from chemo, please let me know!! I am more than glad to send them out or hand deliver them. They do not have to be local, just in need of a scarf or two.
I would also like to ask for a different type of donation. If anyone works for a company or knows of a company that makes boxes (small gift boxes) I could really use them. I am currently purchasing boxes and to have some donated would be awesome. Also ribbon- if anyone has spare ribbon or items to really jazz up the boxes I put the scarves in, I will gladly accept those donations.

Thanks so much everyone! I am so grateful for all the wonderful contributions. It means so much!

A letter from Community Hospice

One of our recipients of the scarves is Community Hospice of Jacksonville. They are a wonderful facilty that takes care of terminally ill patients.
Community Hospice recently sent The Jessica Project a letter.

" Please accept our sincere thanks for your gift of scarves through The Jessica Project for the patients of Community Hospice. We appreciate your kindness.
Community supported and community focused, Community Hopsice provides the very best care customized to the needs of each patient and family.
Though people turn to us when they are facing death, CH is about life, and celebrating life until it ends. Your support makes it possible to reach out to and embrace those in our care. We appreciate so much that you are a part of this important mission and thank you for you your support again. "

Please understand- that this is not my contribution. This is the contribution of everyone who has donated to The Jessica Project. Please continue to help me make the lives of those with cancer and similar illnesses a little brighter through the donation of head scarves.

Thank you so much!
